Carol Sue Goodwin, 86, of Bloomington passed away on December 2, 2022, from a long battle with cancer. She was born in Peru, Indiana on August 9, 1936 to Mary Florence (Helm) and Donald Wayne Junker, JR. She was retired from Indiana University with 25 years of service in the Main Library Serials Department and the Office of Overseas Study. Sue married Donald Richard Goodwin, SR. on July 21, 1956, and he preceded her in death in 1995. They had 4 children. Survivors include her daughter, Mary Jane (Janie) (husband Gregory) their children Mary Elizabeth (Betsy) (Partner Cabren Gooch) Marshall, son Christopher Marshall and Sue’s great grandchildren Ryan Wayne and Eleanor Elizabeth Maree Gooch all of Bloomington, IN; a son Donald (wife Sheila) Goodwin, JR. and their children, Kyle Matthew and Mara Elizabeth of Bloomington, IN; daughter in law, Charlotte Amy Goodwin and their children Alex and Aiden of Eugene, OR; two sisters, Penelope (Penny) Junker, Patricia (Junker, Brunk) Kuykendall (John deceased) and their children: Sean Michael Brunk and Suzanne Michelle (Brunk, Olaivar); a brother, Dr. Michael Lee (wife Linda) Junker of Baton Rouge, LA, and their children Penelope Ann and Van Piercy; Brother-in-law Mark (wife Gwen) Goodwin; and many Nieces and Nephews. Preceding her in death sons, P. Kevin Goodwin, and William Scott Goodwin; her parents, Mary Florence (Helm) and Donald Wayne Junker, JR.; nephews Michael Allen and Mark Lewis Junker; and grandparents John and Mary Helms and Margaret Ann and Jacob Junker. She made a career change at the age of 67 after retiring from IU, when she took the Certified Nursing Assistant courses at IVY TECH, Bloomington and practiced those skills at Options for Better Living and Comfort Keepers. She attended Indiana University and IVY TECH in Bloomington along with Dade County Community College in Gainesville, Florida. Sue was an active volunteer, earning volunteer of the year at the Boy’s Club of Redford Township in Detroit, MI, Gainesville, FL, Columbus, IN and Bloomington, IN. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was of the Methodist Faith. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at 3:00 PM at Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home, 4150 East Third St. Burial will be in Payne Cemetery in Bloomington.
