Ronald “Ron” Wheeler, 73, of Bloomington, passed away at 7:41 am on Friday, October 11, 2019 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington. He was born on May 3, 1946 in Bloomington to Oliver Alexander and Ruth Naomi (Whorrall) Wheeler. He married Sandra Lightner, she preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were his parents and one son, Ronald T. Wheeler.
Ron is survived by one daughter, Trena (Alvin) Sullivan and one son, Michael (Laurie) Wheeler both of Normal; five grandchildren, Amanda Wheeler of El Paso, TX, Matt (Kristen) Wheeler of Bloomington, and Michelle (Matt) Cantway, Sara Wheeler and Jacob White, and Jordin Wheeler all of Normal; three great grandchildren, Cali White, and Ryan and Lilly Cantway all of Normal; three siblings, Donald (Pat) Wheeler of Norman, OK, Debbie (Donnie) Holliday, and Anna Roberts and Greg Cantway all of Bloomington; and his beloved cat, “Petey”. Additional survivors include, wife Charlotte (Dubson) Parker, step-daughters Cateeja Parker Clinton, Catrina (Michael) Eimer Sr. Clinton, step-granddaughter Nakeeta (Rich Smith) Parker Wapella IL, step-great grand kids, Hayden and Maritza Parker, James Lehmann, Leeah Marley Parker Smith all of Wapella IL.
He was an Army Veteran and a member of American Legion Louis E. Davis Post # 56 in Bloomington. He had worked as a painter for International Union of Painters and Allied Trades Local # 209 in Bloomington.
Cremation will be accorded. A Memorial Service for Ron will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, October 21, 2019 at East Lawn Funeral Home in Bloomington. Friends may call upon the family for one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Military Honors will be performed. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Station Saloon, 1611 Morrissey Dr., Bloomington, IL immediately following the services. Memorials may be made to Wounded Warriors.
