Mildred B. Bicknell, 76, of Bloomington, passed away at 11:40 a.m. on Saturday, January 1, 2011 at her home.
She was born May 17, 1934 in Gerard, IL, daughter of Marshall and Beulah B. Trower Miller. She married Robert D. Bicknell on June 7, 1952.
Surviving are her husband of Bloomington; one daughter, Sharon (Brad) Roland of Bloomington; two sons, Rodney (Cathy) Bicknell of Leroy and Robert (Kathy) Bicknell of Bloomington; seven grandchildren, Sean (Kristi) Balonis, Amanda Balonis, both of Bloomington, Bobi Bicknell of Normal, Kami Jones of Bloomington, Amy Bicknell of Chicago, Kelly Bicknell of Denver, CO and Paul Bicknell, stationed in Germany and five great-grandchildren, Austin, Aija, Jordan, Joey and Phoenyx. Also surviving are one brother, Sidney (Jean) Miller of Bloomington; four sisters, Betty Shannon of Heyworth, Doris Morris, Joyce (Chuck) Erdman and Marilyn (Jerry) Scogin, all of Bloomington; many nieces and nephews and her dog, Smitty.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Billy Miller and one infant sister, Sally Miller.
Millie attended Centennial Christian Church in Bloomington, was a life-long Chicago Cubs fan, a member of the VFW Post #454 Women’s Auxiliary and a past cast member of the American Passion Play.
She was a homemaker and later in life worked for Weaver’s Rent-All in Bloomington. Millie was a beautiful wife, mother, sister and grandmother. She was always willing to lend a hand to anyone and will be remembered as kind and generous to a fault.
The family would like to thank the staff at OSF Saint Joseph Medical Center & Hospice for all of their care and compassion during Millie’s time of illness.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Cremation rites have been accorded. East Lawn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
