She was born Dec. 10, 1953 in Columbia, MO to Eugene and Kathryn (Poore) Ballew. She was preceded in death by her father, Eugene.
Survivors include her mother, Kathryn Houston; sister, Dorothy (Mike) Wilson; brothers, Randy (Jacque) Ballew, and Roger (Sonia) Ballew. She married Keith Doornbos in New Franklin, MO on Aug. 28, 1980. He survives. Also surviving are their children, Brian Foster of Chicago, IL and Laura (David) Ludwig of Colfax, IL. She had four grandchildren, Eva, Carter and Landon Ludwig and Mackenzie Foster.
Linda graduated from Columbia College, Columbia, MO, in 1981, with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, earning these degrees while working full-time for State Farm and as a mother.
She was a dedicated associate of State Farm Insurance, first with 27 years as an employee and then 17 years as a State Farm agent in Decatur, IL. She enjoyed the insurance business and loved to help people.
She received her designation as a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC). She was a member of the National Association of Insurance Agents and Financial Advisors (NAIFA) and the Early Birds Kiwanis Club of Decatur.
Linda held a private pilot certificate, and had flown thousands of hours in light aircraft. She first began flying in 1981. She was a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA), and the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Chapter 129 in Bloomington/Normal. She has been the President of EAA Chapter 129 for more than 3 years.
She was a volunteer and sponsor of the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life of McLean County.
As a lifelong fan of the University of Missouri, Linda enjoyed cheering the Tigers to victory. She also loved spending her free time with her four grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at East Lawn Funeral Home in Bloomington. Funeral Services will be at 3:00 pm on Wednesday at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Bloomington. A memorial service will also be held at Grandview Baptist Church in Centralia, MO at a later date.
