Jane Ann was born April 17, 1941 in Kansas City, MO to Carl and Mary Elizabeth Bell. She later married Stewart G. Coddington.
Surviving are her children, a son, Jim (Kelly) Coddington, Bloomington and a daughter, Kimberly (Ryan) Hill, Bowling Green, KY; grandchildren, Katherine, Emily and Mary Claire Coddington; Andrew and Brandon Hill; and 2 brothers, James Bell and Jack Jones.
She was preceded in death by her parents and later fathers J.M. Jones and John Maxwell, and brother Robert Jones.
Jane Ann grew up in Champaign, IL and attended the University of Arizona, Tucson. Jane Ann and Stewart Coddington owned and operated Stewart's Toggery, Clinton; The Little Folks, Bloomington and Champaign; and The Orange Julius, Bloomington. She was a 20 year member of the Bank of Illinois Board of Directors in Normal. Jane Ann also owned a farm in Easton, IL.
Jane Ann was a lifelong volunteer in both Clinton and Bloomington. She was a Girl Scout leader in college and later for her daughter. She served as President of Centrillio Council of Girl Scouts, receiving the highest award given to volunteers and many more for continued service. She also served as a National Volunteer for the Girl Scouts.
Jane Ann was a Former President of Chapter JV of the P.E.O. Sisterhood and Chairperson of an Illinois State Chapter Committee. She was also a Former President of the McLean County YWCA. Jane Ann was a member of the Margaret Fuller Book Club, SCORE Counselors to America's Small Businesses, Bloomington/Normal Panhellenic, and a 17-year member of the Selective Service System. In the 1990's she was named Altrusa Woman of the Year. Jane Ann was a former member of Crestwicke Country Club and Bloomington Country Club.
Jane Ann's passions included her grandchildren, her wave-runner and her home in Fontana-on-Geneva-Lake, WI. She enjoyed sewing and needlepoint and was a jack-of-most-anything including plumbing, masonry, carpentry, electricity and technology. In her retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her family and dear friend Linda Stawick. She was proud of her family farm legacy led by father Carl Bell and the family grocery business led by later father J.M. Jones.
Memorial visitation will be held at East Lawn Funeral Home, 1102 Airport Road Bloomington, Saturday July 21 2-5pm. Cremation rites have been accorded by East Lawn Funeral Home, Bloomington.
