Bernice Beatrice Hull

Bernice Beatrice (Griffith) Hull, 97, of El Paso formerly of Bloomington, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at Arc at El Paso, a nursing home where she had happily resided for over a year. Following a normal evening meal, she returned to her room where, about an hour later and with little warning, she passed.

She was born on Thursday, March 3, 1927, in Macomb, IL, to Raymond and Frances Ione (Taylor) Griffith. They preceded her in death.

Bernice was married to Don Hull (divorced) in Bloomington. She is survived by her brother, James (Barbara) Griffith, of Madison, WI; her nieces, Patricia (Tim, deceased) Briggs of Isle, IL, Julia (Alan) Schulenberg of Mt. Horeb, WI and Carolyn Griffith (John Chaval) of Victoria, BC; great-nephews, Travis Briggs (Melissa Adamson) of Glen Ellyn, IL and Justin (Katie) Briggs of Breckenridge, CO; and one great-great nephew, Finnegan Briggs; and one great-great niece Adeline Briggs, both of Breckenridge, CO.

When she was three years old, the family moved to Jacksonville, Illinois. She was a graduate of Jacksonville High School, Class of 1945. Soon after her graduation, Bernice rode a bus to Bloomington, Illinois and began working at State Farm Insurance in the underwriting division that same year, dedicating 44 years of service. A lover of outdoor sports, she enjoyed playing golf and tennis, and in her later years, took pleasure in watching various sports on TV. She loved to travel, visiting many places throughout the United States as well as around the world.

Bernice was a life member of Bloomington Chapter 50, Order of Eastern Star of Illinois, Masonic Temple, Felicity Chapter No. 387.

In accordance with her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded, and internment will be at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
