She was born May 8, 1922 in Willard Wisconsin to Martin and Josephine (Smolich) Kokaly. She married Harold Hartman on May 1, 1942.
Avis was a jewelry specialist at McDade’s in Burbank, Il for 20 years. She was a member of the Pilgrim Faith Church of Oak Lawn, Il and had currently attended Christ Church in Normal. Avis kept busy with friends at the Normal Activity Center with many programs, playing cards, aerobics and line dancing.
Left to cherish her memory are three daughters: Jean (Floyd) Haerr of Carlock; Karen (Edward) Young of Winston-Salem, NC; Joyce (Ronald) Meier of Montrose, CO.; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; many nieces and one nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters and three brothers and one nephew.
Private Family Services will be held Saturday at Christ Church officiated by Pastor Duane Otto.

In her final years Avis lived in the Heritage Normal Campus. Her family would like to acknowledge and thank the staff for their compassionate care.
