Richard Dale McGinty passed away peacefully on December 22nd, 2024 at his home in Lake Mathews, CA. He was born June 5th, 1940 to Hugh and Ruth (Pullen) McGinty in Riverside (Arlington) and raised in Sunnymead, CA one of 6 children.
Throughout his schooling he enjoyed participating in 4-H where he raised calves and met the first love of his life Wilburna Jean Mosley. He graduated Riverside Poly High School in 1958, and married Wilburna on January 1st, 1959. Richard served 2 years in the Army (1958-1960) stationed near Wurtzburg, Germany. During this marriage, Richard and Wilburna had four children and he loved to build things, do brick work and camping with the family. Richard was preceded in death by Wilburna in 1988.
Richard worked as a crane operator for Kaiser Steel from 1958 to 1983, he went on to work for California Steel and farm for several years until his retirement to become a fulltime grandpa. He always enjoyed reading a good book and doing puzzles while sipping a cup of coffee.
Richard went on to dedicate his life to being a devoted husband to Sheila Jeanne Cochrane who he married on October 28th, 1989. The two shared many happy years including 17 years in their beloved Monmouth, OR where he enjoyed walking his shelties, drinking coffee with friends and hosting many visits from kids and grandkids. He also enjoyed tending to his flower and vegetable gardens and grafting fruit tree varieties.
He is survived by his wife Sheila McGinty, siblings Patsy Thompson, Linda McGinty, Larry McGinty (Penny), children Patricia Torrealba (Elio), Robert "Bob" McGinty (Kay), Aaron McGinty (Angela), Alan McGinty (Janie), David Colon, Chris Colon, 25 grandchildren and their partners, 38 great-grandchildren, and his faithful sheltie Bailey.
