Tony was born into a hardworking migrant family in El Paso, Texas on March 22, 1936. He was the youngest of four brothers, Apolino, Nato, and Al. Tony also had five sisters, Connie, Virginia, Molly, Abby, and Marie. Tony is survived by one sibling, Marie Cruz.
As a young child Tony’s family traveled across a number of states working crops while he grew up. Tony used to say he was the waterboy because he was the youngest of the boys. He often took advantage of the flowing rivers by going for a swim after collecting the water.
Tony’s parents, Asencion and Fortunato, finally settled in Fontana, California. Tony attended Fontana High School and soon after joined the Airforce in 1954 where he was an Airman. Four months after Tony’s Honorable discharge in 1958 he went to work for General Dynamics, Air Defensive Systems Division in Pomona, California and retired in 1994 after 34 years of distinguished service.
Tony and Carmen purchased their first and only home in Ontario, California in 1967 and moved from Fontana with their two children at the time Joe and Patricia. Tony’s last and youngest child, Paul, was born in 1971.
Tony attended church at Pentecostal Temple in Bloomington, California for many years, and last attended Living Word Assembly in Chino, California.
Tony worked endless hours to provide for his family. He was a wonderful role model and always did the right thing. He loved his belated wife dearly and missed her more than words could ever express. He loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren unconditionally. He will be missed by all.
