Charles (AKA Bud or Charlie Brown) was born on December 15, 1935 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania to Donald and Wilda Hull Brown. After many childhood adventures with his older brother Donald Brown and his cousin Harry Brown, a teenage Charles Brown moved to Fontana. Charles joined the Air Force in 1955 and served as a teletype repairman. He was Honorably discharged in 1959 and proudly served in the Air Force reserves until 1963. Upon his discharge he worked for Kaiser Steel in Fontana as a Tin Mill Inspector and was active in the United Steelworkers Union Local 7600 during his employment with Kaiser. Charles worked for Kaiser until the closure of the Mill. A few years later he returned to work for California Steel Industries staying until his final retirement.
Charles was a interesting fun loving man with a funny sense of humor. Charles enjoyed a lifelong passion for cars that began when he purchased his first car at the age of 15; a 1948 Mercury with a straight 8. He also enjoyed snow skiing, boating, roller-skating, swimming, going to the desert or the river and rooting for the California Angels, watching Ellen and Little House on the Prairie and spending time with family and loved ones. He was also active in the CB radio community in the 70's known as "The Born Loser" and eventually became a licensed Ham Radio Operator. Charles also pursued an education in Television Production at San Bernardino Valley College. Charles was a member of the Fontana American Legion and the American Democratic Party.
Charles is survived by his 4 children, 3 daughters Maria Elena Irene Brown, Linda Rene Harris (James Harris Sr.) Doris Jean Brown (Ray Long), and his Son Charles Joseph Brown Jr.(Chuck) and his step-daughter Kathryn Ortiz Phipps. Charles also had 10 grand-children James Jr. Brandon, Jacob, and Ryan Harris. Matthew Dahlquist and Derek McGuire and Charles Joseph Brown III, Amanda Brayton, Jessica Brown, and Brianna Harris and 7 great-grandchildren, his brother Donald Matthew Brown and his niece Donna M. Brown and nephew Jeffrey M. Brown.

Services will be held on September 27th at 11:30 am at the Riverside National Cemetery.
