Beverly Rose Leonard

Beverly Rose Mumphrey Leonard (Dida) was born on September 6th 1956 in Dallas Texas to Ielatha and Willie Lee Mumphrey, she is one of twelve children. Beverly moved to California with her family in 1960, where she received her education in early childhood studies from Riverside Community College. She was a foster parent for over 30 years. Early in life she met and married Sammie Standfield, they raised two sons. Bryant and Shawn Standfield. Years later, Beverly met and married Lawrence Ash, they were blessed with a daughter Tamyra ash. She eventually met and married Jeffrey Leonard in 1994 and remained happily married until her death and this union was blessed with 4 girls. Ajia, Tia, C`ynna and Lai-loni Leonard. Beverly had a love for teaching and educating children. In her leisure time she enjoyed arts and crafts, an occasional game of bingo.

Beverly was presided in death by her parents Willie and Lelatha Mumphrey, her sister Lotus’Evon, brother Larry Mumphrey, her sister Ledora Woodard, her nephew, Milam Bender, her nieces Wykami Rachel and Leondra Ford. Her great-great niece Lenora and her great-great nephew Jonathan.

Beverly leaves behind her loving husband Jeffrey Leonard of 26 years, her sons Bryant Standfield of Tennessee and Shawn Standfield of Georgia, daughters Tamyra Ash and Ajia Leonard of Tennessee, daughters Tia, C`ynna, and Lai-loni Leonard of California. Her uncle: Arthur Mumphrey of Texas, Sisters Rovenda Earl, Joann Tomlinson and Angela Harris, Tanya Mumphrey of Texas, sister Evelyn Cooper of Tennessee, Sisters Diane Johnson, Tammy Mumphrey, and Davinay Gentry of California, brother Adolphus Mumphrey of California and brother in law Billy Joe Earl. She leaves 15 grandchildren, 28 nieces and nephews, 40 great nieces and nephews, two God sons and a host of cousins, relatives and friends. Beverly really cared for others, she will truly be missed.
