Tom was born in Albertville, Alabama on May 21, 1960 and graduated from Albertville High School and The University of Alabama where he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity. Tom enjoyed a lifelong career in the restaurant management and food service industry where he was well respected and loved.
Tom was widely known and loved for his generosity, his kind demeanor, eagerness to help, and his broad, welcoming acceptance of everyone. In his private life -Tom was known to us as a skilled cook and quite a talented dancer with a bright sense of humor. Since he came into this world – Tom was the apple of his mother’s eye. To the rest of us - he was a true and loyal friend and family member who will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Tom was preceded in death by his mother, Winifred Cardinal Wells, grandparents George Dewey Wells, Sr., Mary Lucille Starnes Wells, Louis Charles Cardinal and Ruth Watson Cardinal, aunts Clare Bowman Cardinal and Ruth Cardinal German, uncles Jack Wells, Louis (Bud) Cardinal, Tom Watson Cardinal and cherished friend Clint Barton.
Tom is survived by his father George Wells, sisters Georganne Long (Steve) and Winky Dowdle (Bill), aunt Idabelle Wells, nieces Margaret Long, Mary Virginia Long Ballantyne (Jonathon, Libby), and Ruth Butler (Jamie, Edie), nephews Whit Long (Emily, Likely) and Rob Weil (Ali, Isabel) and cousins Mary Jane Gibson (John), Lee Ann Wells, Ruth Cardinal Sewell (Robert), Louis Cardinal (Lang), Clare Cardinal-Pett (Steve) and a host of additional dear cousins.
A memorial service for Tom will be announced in the coming months.
