Timothy A Brown

After a struggle of nearly 20 years with Multiple Sclerosis and other complications due to his U.S. Coast Guard service, Tim Brown, age 76 of Irondale, passed away Thursday, August 10, 2023. He was preceded in death by his father, Erskine Brown; and mother, Ruth Foster Duncan. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Allyson Brown; and daughters, Blair Brown and Paige Brown. Despite his experiences on the crew of Coast Guard cutters in Vietnam, Tim loved being on the water. He was an active member in the Antique and Classic Boat Society for many years as president and event chair, and restored several antique powerboats. After he retired in 2004, his family discovered that he had shells of boats all around the southeast in other people’s garages, sheds and barns. Tim excelled at bringing people together and making them feel welcome, whether it was on a sales call or at an antique boat rendezvous. He never met a stranger, and has passed that trait on to one of his daughters. The other daughter is finally coming around. His family will celebrate his life with visitation on Monday, August 14, 2023 from 9:00-10:00 AM at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel. There will be a graveside service at Forest Crest Cemetery beginning at 10:30. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The National MS Society.
