Thomas David Jones

Thomas “David” Jones, 68, passed away on June 13, 2023. He was born on November 20, 1954 to George Thomas Jones and Betty Jean George Jones. David was preceded in death by his parents and infant daughter, Melissa Rachelle Jones. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 46 years, Susie Hawkins Jones; his children, Krisi Weeks (Shane) and Dusty Jones (Kelli); grandchildren, Caleb Weeks, Carter Weeks, Claire Weeks, Sawyer Jones, and Audrey Kate Jones; sister Deborah Jones Kirby (Max) and brother, Darryl Jones.

David was a faithful member of Morgan United Methodist Church, a loving husband, father, and Papa, but his greatest love were his grandchildren, who were all his favorite. He worked hard all of his life as a brick mason to provide a good life for his family. He didn’t consider it just a job, but a ministry. He had a servant’s heart and loved to help others. He was loved by everyone who knew him. He will be greatly missed.

David had a sweet tooth and he loved eating suckers, but loved to share them more than anything. He was an example of kindness. His gentle disposition and warm smile always made people feel welcome. David counted everything he had as a gift from the Lord, and he loved to give to others as a way to show how much he loved others.

Visitation will be on Friday, June 16, 2023 from 4-6pm at Morgan United Methodist Church, 2701 Morgan Rd, Bessemer, AL 35022. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at 11 am at the church. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Morgan United Methodist Church, 2701 Morgan Rd, Bessemer, AL 35022.
