Friday May 12,2023 Thomas E. Chandler (Pete) went to be with the Lord, his daughter Patti and granddaughter Fallon were holding his hands as he joined his beloved wife in Heaven. He leaves behind a legacy of family, loyalty, and dedication to the Pinson community. Pete’s first great love was baseball, he was a minor league pitcher. His second was his beautiful wife Hastine and his family. Pete and Hastine lived in the Pinson community for over sixty years, contributing to the town with their unique talents. Together they raised two daughters and were intricate parts of all three of their grandchildren's lives. Pete dedicated his life to providing for his family by working forty-two years at U.S. Pipe. Then dedicated his retirement life to Pinson, by helping with most events, maintaining the grounds, and being a constant smiling face to everyone in the community. He was a part of all the firsts for Pinson after being incorporated, even being named Mr. Butterbean and Marshall at town events. Pete’s love for the outdoors was something he shared with his daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Taking his kids and grandkids fishing and hunting are some of the fondest memories they have with him. The great grandkids would always bring a smile to his face these last few years when they have called to talk about their last hunt or how big the last fish they caught was. Pete was a talented woodworker, building many props and stages for city events. While also building birdhouses and squirrel proof bird feeders for his wife. He and his wife enjoyed watching the birds eat at the feeders, he was always at the co-op buying bird seed so she could watch her birds. They also loved spring, watching the bluebirds build their nests and the baby birds fledge was something they looked forward to every year. Pete had a servant's heart; he was always the one people called when they needed help knowing he would show up with anything he had that would be useful for the situation. His love for Pepsi and Oreo cookies is legendary, as was his love for western books and movies, John Wayne being his favorite.
Pete is survived by his two daughters Patricia Chandler and Barbara Faircloth (Bill), three grandchildren Matthew Faircloth (Lindsay), Allison Faircloth, Fallon Avery, great grandchildren Nathan Faircloth, Drew Faircloth and Emily Faircloth, sisters- in- law Eulene Cargile, Jean Wilburn, Sue White (James), Marie Corsentino, multiple nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.
