Susan Lynn Lavett of Birmingham, Alabama, passed away on Wednesday, September 29, 2021. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Elmwood Cemetery. She was preceded in death by her brother, David Harvey. Born on April 4th, 1963, in Birmingham, Alabama, to Jim and Carolyn Harvey, Susan's strong faith and devotion to the Lord began at a young age and sustained her through the years. Susan's relationship with God was evident in the way she loved others. She was so generous and kind, and she tried to make everyone feel instantly welcome and at ease with her sweet voice. She always made seemingly small moments in life feel so important. She loved to have fun and had the best vivacious laugh. She loved the beach, but her favorite place was home. She so enjoyed tending to her flower garden and kept an immaculate yard full of life and color for every season. She had a heart for animal rescue and a deep love for the dogs and cats she made sure had a safe home. She never met a stranger, and she would stop whatever she was doing to help someone in need. She was the definition of loyal and devoted, whether it be with a new acquaintance, her best friends (the "Golden Girls" Carmela, Lisa, and Cindy), or her family. She helped her father with his business for many years through good and bad times, and she provided selfless, nurturing care to her home bound mother for nearly a decade. It was through her mother Carolyn that Susan met her husband Tommy at Church of the Highlands. They bonded through their love of God, BIR racing, and Auburn Football. They were married on August 8th, 2008, and they truly were best friends and soul mates. Above all else, her favorite role was that of mother; Susan had her daughter Lauren on July 18, 2005. She was the joy of her life, & Susan's face would light up when she was with Lauren or even mentioned her name. Many shared moments between the two of them were spent watching Lauren become an elegant dancer and an even more beautiful young lady. Susan honored us by the way she lived her life. She is survived by her beloved husband, Tommy Lavett, precious daughter, Lauren Wiley, loving parents mother Carolyn Harvey & father Jim Harvey (Judy), Aunt Marybeth Holt, & many special family & friends. The family would like to extend their love and gratitude to next door neighbor Beth Feagin and her daughter, Dr. Ashley Jackson, for the caring way they have supported this family through their time of need. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that her memory be honored with donations Cat Haven, 829 38th St S, Birmingham, AL 35222.
Susan's family request that social distancing and Covid protocols be honored.
