SUE T. SIMS, age 88 of Birmingham, went to her Heavenly home on Monday, November 7, 2022. She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Sims; and brother, Gerald Meadows. She is survived by her son, George Martin; daughter, Pana Meanor (Phil); brother, Johnny Meadows (Linda); sister, Edna Dilmore; sister-in-law, Mary Meadows; grandchildren, Dillon Harnage, Jenna Meanor and Tamara Infante (Jimmy); great-grandchildren, Owen and Jonah Infante; and several nieces and nephews. Sue was born in St. Clair County in 1934 and moved to Birmingham where she graduated from Ramsey High School and Howard College. She went back to Samford University to obtain her Master’s degree in guidance counseling. Sue served as Guidance Counselor for over 30 years at Banks High School and Woodlawn High School. She was a member of South Roebuck Baptist Church for over 50 years where she served many roles and was affectionately known as the “Flower Lady” because of her love for flowers and making arrangements for the church. She also won many awards from the Birmingham Botanical Gardens competitions and gave lectures on roses. Sue and her family traveled the country with their pop up camper and enjoyed exploring nature together. Her family will celebrate her life with visitation on Saturday, November 12, 2022 from 1-2 at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel with her service beginning at 2:00. Burial will follow at Branchville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Breast Cancer Research.
