On December 4, 2023, Sharon Williams Langer passed away to be with the Lord. She was born in Birmingham, Alabama on December 1, 1956. She graduated from Berry High School, attended Jacksonville State University for a semester before transferring to the University of Alabama. She earned a bachelor's degree in public relations and business from the U of A. While at Alabama, she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. Her professional career started with Statements Group/Vulcan Life Insurance Company; she later became vice president over the workman’s compensation division at JRH Risk Services. At the end of her career, she was employed part-time with Alternative Insurance Resources. She was a member of several professional organizations including-Alabama Workers Compensation Claims Association, Alabama Self-Funded Association and Self-Insured Institute of America. Sharon was described by friends and family as a kind, caring, thoughtful, loving and giving person. She loved her pets. She will be greatly missed by all. She is survived by her husband, James Thomas (Tom) Langer. She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Theron Williams and her mother, Dorothy Sumner Williams.
A visitation will be on Friday, December 8, 2023 from 1pm until 2pm at Johns Ridout's Elmwood Chapel. A celebration of Sharon's life will follow at 2pm in the chapel. She will be laid to rest in the family lot at Elmwood Cemetery in Block 25.
