She graduated from West End High School and began 49 years with Southern Bell and its subsequent company changes. As a member of AT&T's Pioneers, she enjoyed playing Santa's helper in Europe for a number of years. She also made other trips to Europe, The Holy Land and Africa.
First United Methodist Church was an important part of Peggy's life. She was active in Sunday School, The First Methodist Garden Club and Aylwin Club. After retirement, she volunteered in the finance office and was eventually hired as a secretary where she served a number of years. She was a member of the Salvation Army Auxiliary and volunteered in their offices. She was a member of the American Business Women's Association.
She is survived by two first cousins; Carolyn Carlton of Birmingham, Alabama and Gordon Griffith of Big Canoe, Georgia.
A public visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 from 1:00pm-2:00pm at Johns Ridout's Elmwood Chapel located at 800 Dennison Ave. SW Birmingham, Alabama 35211 with a funeral service to follow at 2:00pm. Burial will be held in Elmwood Cemetery.
