Myra Nell Crowell

Myra Nell Crowell, age 103, of Vestavia Hills, Alabama passed away on Monday July 22, 2019. Myra was born December 7, 1915 in Shelby, AL. As a graduate of St. Vincent’s Nursing School, Myra spent her entire professional life as a RN for the Veterans Hospital. She had a love for reading, watching and feeding her birds, and traveling the world as a passenger on a freighter. She was a long- time member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church where she sang in the choir and volunteered at the Catholic Center of Concern. She was preceded in death by both of her parents, Charles Bennett Crowell and Fletcher Tillman Crowell, as well as, brothers, Charles, Lewis, and Maurice Crowell.

Survivors: Only Son: Mitchell (Mickey) McKell, Loving Daughter-in-law: Sandra McKell; 5 adoring and doting Grandchildren: Charles McKell, Mitchell "Mitch" McKell (Jonna), Michelle Barron (John), Allyson McKell, Michael McKell (Kelsey); 7 wonderful Great Grandchildren: Charlie McKell (Rachel), Bailey Waller (Griff), Hayes McKell, Harrison McKell, Sophie Barron, John Paul Barron, Palmer Barron and Niece: Maureen Miller

A visitation for Myra will be held Friday, July 26, 2019 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Johns-Ridout's Mortuary-Elmwood Chapel, 800 Dennison Ave SW, Birmingham, AL 35211. A graveside service & burial will occur at Elmwood Cemetery & Mausoleum Friday, July 26, 2019 at 12:00 PM, 600 Martin Luther King Jr Dr, Birmingham, Alabama 35211.
