Miller Olice Beard, age 92, of Birmingham, passed away Thursday, December 4th. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Eloise Beard; daughter, Cindy Knight (Chuck); son, John Beard (Nancy), and five grandchildren, Adam Knight (Amy), Lisa Knight Lowery (Patrick), Lori Knight Crocker (James), Grant Alexander Beard, and Jackson Miller Beard; two great-grandchildren, Cameron Knight and Natalie Knight; a sister, Louise Moore, and several nieces and nephews.
He was a veteran of WWII, serving in Europe with the 9th Air Force, US Army Air Corp. He was employed for 40 years with Ingall Ironworks, then Trinity, as an iron worker. When he retired from there he worked for twenty-two years as the courtesy driver for Jim Burke Buick/Nissan.
He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church.
His family will receive friends on Sunday, December 6, from 12:30-2:00 PM at Ridout's Trussville Chapel, with the funeral service beginning at 2 PM. A private burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would request that you donate to St. John's United Methodist Church, Birmingham, AL.
