Mary Ellen Thomas

Mary Ellen Daniell Thomas, 80, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 20, 2020. She was born June 1, 1940 in Eva, AL. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Billy Joe Thomas along with her parents, Jack and Wynell Daniell. She is survived by her sister, Sue Crawford (Gene) of Irondale, AL, son, David Thomas (Leandro) of Atlanta, GA, daughter, Denise Singleton (Mark) of Irondale, AL., her grandchildren, Brittany Simpson (Clinton), John Thomas Singleton and her great-grandson, Kade Simpson. She was a faithful member of the The Church at Grants Mill (formerly First Baptist Church Irondale) where she faithfully attended and loved her Sunday School "Tom and Jerry" Class. She was a sweet soul; beautiful Godly women inside and out, never meeting a stranger and always having a kind word to say and sharing how God had always been with her and her husband protecting and guiding them on their many trips. She and her husband were retired Owner Operators of Landstar Ranger Truck Lines where they won many awards for their excellent teamwork and dedicated service. She was a loving Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and Sister and will be greatly missed by many. We are comforted to know she is fully healed resting in her Heavenly Father's arms.

A public visitation will be held on Thursday, December 24, 2020 from 10:00am-11:00am in the chapel of Johns Ridout's Chapel located at 800 Dennison Ave. SW Birmingham, AL. 35211 with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 11:00am. Burial will be held in Elmwood Cemetery. Rev. Neal Bruce will be officiating. John Ridout's Elmwood Chapel will be directing.
