Ann Chandler went home to the Lord on Saturday, February 6th. She was born in Irondale, Alabama on August 21, 1934 to William H. Watson, Sr. and Kathryne Reynolds Watson. She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Cathy Denise Chandler; brother Robert (Bob) Edward Watson (Jeri); and sister Jane Shoop. She is survived by her husband, Max; children, Lisa Talbot (Gary) and Mike Chandler (Phillip); six grand children; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, William (Billy) Watson, Jr. (Carol); and brother in-law Jimmy Shoop.
Ann was married to Max for 68 wonderful years. Ann loved her family and they came first in every aspect of her life. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. When raising her children she could never bring herself to discipline them. Her idea of discipline was to make Lisa and Mike pick their own switch, but then she could never use it! Ann and Max were caregivers to Ann's parents, Mommie and Pop Watson, in their late years. She found her true calling when she left her job as a school crossing guard to keep her first granddaughter. That career lasted thru six grandchildren and many great-grandchildren until the summer of 2020.
Ann also loved trips to the beach with her family. She enjoyed everyone being together and having fun.
A loving person, she never had a negative word to speak about anyone. Ann's sense of humor
made her a favorite to be around. She was also a famous chef with her family and friends for her
Tuesday night dinners as she was a great cook. Her friends in the Naomi Sunday School Class at First
Baptist Church of Irondale were a constant source of entertainment and support for Ann for almost 50
years. Everyone that knew her would tell you that Ann was the greatest wife, mother, grandmother and
friend you could ever hope to have.
Visitation will be held at Ridout's Elmwood Chapel at 1pm on Tuesday, February 9, 2021; with a graveside celebration of Ann's life to follow at 2pm at Elmwood Cemetery.
