His favorite quote was by Stonewall Jackson. “ My religious belief teaches me to feel as safe in battle as in bed. God has fixed the time for my death. I do not concern myself about that, but to always be ready no matter when it may overtake me. That is the way all men should live and then we would all be equally brave.” He was always ready for a discussion on a plethora of subjects. He was extremely proud of and passionate about his children, his grandchildren, his 2016 75th Anniversary Jeep Willys, his many friends and his collection of guns. What he looked forward to the most was Alabama Football games (Roll Tide) and Heaven.
