Marc Nicholas Smith of Birmingham, AL passed at 1:43am on Monday October 24th, 2022. Marc loved his family, his dogs (especially Roxanne his amazing Service Dog of 9 years), baseball, music he could belt to, dancing, tattoos, the number 3, and most importantly his children Mal and Si.
By far Marc's proudest accomplishment, parts of himself, and forces in his life were his children: Mallory and Silas Smith. It was difficult even to converse with him about them at times because he was so proud of them that he could not hold back the tears of joy. Shaking his head in awe of his children's magnificence, he always was grateful for his children having a loving and present mother (Catlin Drewry Smith). Mallory has her Daddy's sparkling blue eyes and silly stubbornness that can be serious and sarcastic all at the same time. Silas shares his Daddy's interests in all things involving outdoors, animals, music, and random facts, as well as his quick wit and humor.
Marc is preceded in death by his grandparents Harry Lee Jones, John Roland and Mary Ernestine Smith (Mee Maw). Marc is survived by his grandmother (Mary Ernesteen Shaw Jones/Nana), his parents (George Robert "Bo" Smith and Teri Lea Jones Smith), his sisters Tara Smith, Tammy Smith (Jason Shipp), and Marcie Smith, his children Mallory Smith (15) and Silas Smith (10), his faithful service dog Roxanne, and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.
A service is scheduled for Thursday October 27th, 2022 at Southside Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama. Visitation with the family will begin at 1pm in Dillard Lobby followed by the service in the main sanctuary at 2pm. Dr. Timothy L. Kelley will officiate. Pall bearers will be Jason Shipp, Michael Wehby, Phil Nero, Logan Gilmore, Jorge Gonzalez, and Michael Drewry. Following the service, police escort will be provided to Elmwood Cemetery for interment. All are welcome to attend. Our family would like to express the deepest gratitude to the care team at UAB-Birmingham for their kindness and compassion during Marc's stay there, especially Dr. Daniel Hess and Nurses Angel, Laura, Lilli, Lisa, Jack, Kai, FeFe, and Ray.
