Lois Wasserman Appelbaum born November 10, 1933 and passed away January 10, 2023 at age 89. Lois was preceded in death by her parents Sam and Sylvia Wasserman of Newark, New Jersey.
Lois developed a passion for learning as she grew up in her close knit New Jersey neighborhood. Her own education eventually took her to the Juilliard school to study piano and then to the Teacher’s College of New York City where she earned her teaching degree. Lois went on to teach in several different states in her adult life. She was an avid reader, gardener, and New York Times crossword puzzle regular. Her charitable heart supported many underprivileged causes and her Jewish faith was a guiding light throughout her life.
Lois was preceded in death by her devoted husband of fifty five years David Jay Appelbaum, her brother Harold Wasserman and sister Honey Wolfson. She is survived by her sons Robert Appelbaum and Mark Appelbaum, her five grandchildren Jake, Maggie, Sarah, Hannah, and Matthew Appelbaum and her namesake great granddaughter Nora Lois Appelbaum.
