On Sunday, May 15, 2022 in Daphne, AL, Kent Ivey Kilpatrick was taken by the hand of God to reside eternally in heaven at the age of 67. Although his worldly journey came to an end after months of illness, he faced each day gallantly and loved his family fiercely until he reached his final destination surrounded by loved ones.
Kent was born on July 31, 1954 in Birmingham, AL to Marvin Eugene and Dorothy Ivey Kilpatrick. As the middle child of three boys, Kent was known to choose his own path. His family lovingly referred to him as the ‘black sheep’ of the family for being an avid Auburn fan while his other family members cheered on the University of Alabama. Kent started a family tradition of calling and hanging up on his family every time Auburn scored against Bama during every iron bowl.
Kent is survived by his beautiful wife of almost thirty-two years, Marsha Johnson Kilpatrick. Together, they had two children: a son, Christian Kilpatrick of Fairhope, AL, and a daughter, Crystal Kilpatrick of Tuscaloosa, AL. He is also survived by his sweet mother, Dorothy “Dot” Kilpatrick of Birmingham, AL, his youngest brother, Dale Kilpatrick (Teresa) of Madison, MS and many nieces and nephews.
Kent is preceded in death by his father, Marvin Kilpatrick, Jr., his brother, Raymond Kilpatrick (Susan) and his in-laws Charles and Dorotha “Dot” Johnson.
Kent was a genuine, kind and loving husband, father, son, brother and friend. Those who knew him were filled with admiration for him and amazed by his stalwart work ethic. He possessed loyalty and confidence in all of his endeavors. He truly put 110% of himself in everything he pursued.
Kent fiercely adored the family he had with his wife. He especially loved his son, Christian, whom he called his little buddy, and his daughter, Crystal, whom he called his princess. Kent was so proud to have recently watched his daughter graduate from the University of Alabama and to watch his son repeatedly make top salesman of the month and salesman of the year. Both his children filled him with pride as they continue his hard-working legacy following in his footsteps in advertising and sales.
Kent lived life to its fullest and left many loving and fun memories with everyone he touched. He enjoyed life by spending time close to the ocean, golfing and landscaping his yard with beautiful plants and flowers.
Visitation will be held at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel on Saturday, May 21, 2022 from 1:00 to 2:00pm followed by a memorial service and a procession to Jefferson Memorial Gardens.
If you are led to make a contribution other than flowers that Kent absolutely loved, please send donations to Southern Care Hospice or Alabama Spay and Neuter.
