Julia Alice, age 75 of Birmingham, born to CP and Mildred Granade in Greenville, AL where she grew up, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, August 6th, 2015. She was a member of Antiquarian Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, and a member of Shades Crest Baptist Church for 41 years where she served as a deacon for many years. Julia Alice graduated from Greenville High School, Howard College (now Samford University), and obtained her Master’s from the University of Alabama. She is preceded in death by her parents, CP and Mildred Granade and her loving husband of 51 years, Norman Rice. Julia Alice is survived by her two sons, Jim Rice and Geoff Rice (Kathy); two grandchildren, Emily Rice and Jack Rice; brother, Shelton Granade, Sr.; niece, Jennifer Rice and nephews, Brock Rice and Shelton Granade, Jr. The family will receive friends Saturday, August 8th, 2015 at Elmwood Chapel from 3:00 to 6:00pm. Celebration of Julia Alice’s life will be Sunday, August 9th, 2015 at 2:00pm at Shades Crest Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be made to Shades Crest Baptist – Found Faithful Campaign in honor of Julia Alice.
