JUANITA JOYCE POWELL PRICE, of Birmingham, AL was born on March 29, 1929 and died on May 13, 2023 at the age of 94. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Lanier “Lonnie” Price; parents, Carney Rice Powell and Allie L. Helton; sisters, Colleen Mitchell, Gloria Swatzell, Shirley Longmire, and Yvonne Wilson; daughters, Joyce Moss, Helaine Shinn, and Mary Tidwell; and grandson, Daniel Price.
She is survived by her sister, Carnie Thomas; stepdaughter, Juanita Lovett (Clarence), son, Lanier “Buddy” Price Jr. (Diane), daughter, Marlaine “Smiley” Elliott; and son-in-law, James “Scooter” Tidwell; 15 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and a host of other family and friends.
Mrs. Price was a humble Christian woman, and a faithful member of Del Rio Baptist Church. She lived in Roebuck Plaza for the last 63 years of her life. She was a homemaker and cared for the needs of her family. She cared for her husband at home during his battle with Alzheimers. Mrs. Price experienced good health and remained active well into her 90s. She opened her home and heart to many friends and family through the years. She loved visiting with family whenever possible, and she especially loved caring for children. She loved telling stories, laughing, sitting on the porch, talking on the phone, and attending church services and prayer meetings. She kept a positive attitude and focused on living in the present. She embodied the value of experiencing life one day at a time.
The family will receive friends at Ridout's Trussville Chapel on Monday, May 22 at 1:00 PM, followed by a service to be held in the chapel at 2:00 PM with Rev. BJ Price officiating. Burial will follow the service in Forest Hill Cemetery.
