James “Jim” Edward Mullican, 95, of Montgomery, AL passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2015. Born on June 21, 1919 in McMinnville, TN to Robert T. and Nancy G. Mullican, he was preceded in death by his wife of over 41 years Dorothy Robbins Mullican. Mr. Mullican is survived by his daughters Virginia M. Price (Charles) of Northport, AL and Susan M. Ward (Wayne) of Alpharetta, GA, son Robert J. Mullican (Malia) of Fairhope, AL, grandchildren Victoria P. Hunter (Andrew), Carolyn P. Rose (Nicholas), Charles F. Price III (Meganne), Kelley D. Ward, Camille E. Campbell, and Margaret C. Wyckoff and great-grandchildren Alexandria, Anna Grace, Mercy and Stephen Hunter and Charlotte Rose. He is also survived by sister-in-law Mary Nelle Robbins of Knoxville, TN, brother-in-law Jack Thrasher of Roswell, GA and many loving nieces and nephews.
Mr. Mullican was a WWII veteran serving in the US Army Signal Corps where he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal and five Battle Stars for action in the European and Pacific Theaters. Mr. Mullican was retired from South Central Bell Telephone Company (now AT&T) following 42 years of service and was also a longtime member of Eastern Hills Baptist Church in Montgomery.
Visitation will be held Saturday, February 21st at 10:00 am at the Johns-Ridout's Elmwood Chapel 800 Dennison Ave SW, Birmingham, AL 35211 followed by a graveside service at Elmwood Cemetery at 11:00 am. Reverend Larry Armstrong and Reverend Myron Price will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Eastern Hills Baptist Church, 3604 Pleasant Ridge Road Montgomery, AL 36109; the Dorothy Robbins Mullican Scholarship in Art c/o University of Montevallo Foundation, University of Montevallo, Station 6215 Montevallo, AL 35115 or a charity of one’s choice.
