Harry Hill passed peacefully at his home on Saturday November 26, 2022. Harry was born on March 20, 1930, in Warm Springs, Georgia where he graduated Manchester High School. Harry served in the US Army Air Forces and attended Southern Tech. He moved to Birmingham, Alabama in 1953 and later met his wife of 60 years, Margaret (Peggy) Parker Hill.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Jeffie Hill, his wife, Peggy, brothers Raymond, Jeff, and Jimmy Hill, his sister, Frances Rothrock, and granddaughter, Christin Crockett.
Harry retired from US Steel in 1992 with 39 years of service. He was a longtime member of Bluff Park United Methodist Church. Harry loved his family, friends and outdoors. Nearing retirement, Harry and Peggy purchased a farm in Warm Springs to spend time near family. Harry volunteered in their church and enjoyed extensive travel and adventures with family and friends. Harry particularly enjoyed fishing trips from the Little River to Sopchoppy. Recently, Harry was reunited with his high school sweetheart, Judy Crowder Fryer and her family. Their love and kindness gave him a new happiness.
Harry is survived by his children, Karon H. Crockett, Margaret H. Cook (Ted) and Harry W. Hill (Elizabeth); his grandchildren Spencer J. Crockett, Ted P. Cook (Kaylyn), and Matthew H. Cook; great-grandchildren Wyatt, Beau, and Owen Crockett along with special nieces and nephews and close friends. A celebration service will be held at Bluff Park United Methodist Church on Friday, December 2nd at 2:00pm with visitation at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Christin Crockett Scholarship Fund at BPUMC, 733 Valley Street, Hoover, AL 35226 or charity of choice.
