Geraldine was born February 15, 1938 to Esther and Roy Cheever. She was raised in Herrington Kansas. While mainly raised by a single mom, Geraldine went to a Christian school and on Saturdays she got to sit in a movie theater while her mom worked. As she got older she would work before and after school at a Café . At the age of 17 she met her husband James (Jimmy) Mills. They where married November 11, 1955. After marriage she stayed and finished high school while her husband, whom was in the Army, went to Korea. After she graduated high school, she moved to Alabama with her in-laws to wait on her husband to return home from war. The day he came home, the family called her to the living room where she walked right by her husband and sat down. Until everyone started laughing, she had no clue her husband was sitting in the same room.
In 1958 she started her own little family with her first child Denise, in 1960 Kay, in 1966 Dawn, and in 1970 a baby boy James Jr., which unfortunately she never got to even hold.
She had always worked hard her entire life. Keeping bills paid and food on the table and always putting away her little stashes for birthdays and Christmas presents.
She has been blessed with the love of her kids, grandkids, great grandkids. Even though she will be so very missed, we know she is at peace with her parents, her husband, and her 2 children that she lost way too soon. She no longer is in pain mentally or physically. We thank God we have been so very blessed by this Beautiful lady!
Preceded in death by her mother Esther Henke, father (Roy Cheever) brother (Duane Cheever), husband (Jimmy Mills), son(James Mills Jr.), and daughter(Denise Rice). Survived by: daughters, Kay (Kenneth) Seward, Dawn Mills. Grandkids; Susan (Penny) Mills, Brianna McDonald, Stacey (Kelly) Lee, Cameron (Mallory) Rice, Amanda (Mike) Sloan. Six great grandchildren.
