Eloise T. Stygler, born on April 4, 1930, joined her Lord in heaven on September 2, 2023. A lady of quiet and deep faith she was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle B. Stygler, her son, Thomas F. Hurst, her four siblings Elizabeth Stanfield, Ed Thorne (Tina), James E. Thorne (Helon), Eric Thorne (Pat) and sister-in-law, Carol Bowden and her parents Bert and William A. Thorne.
Eloise is survived by her daughter Alexis Cooper (Robert), stepdaughter Tammy Turner (Bobby), her beloved grandchildren Trina Hayes (Troy), Beth Cooper, Tommy Turner (Maria), and Taylor Cooper. She was blessed with three great-grandchildren: Cooper, Hayden, and Jackson Turner. She was much loved by her children and grandchildren as well as by special nieces Sherry McCall, Teresa Tanney (Drew), Paige Kyser, Leigh Abrams (Jerry) and Ann Klein (Mike).
After graduating from Marbury High School and Massey Draughan Business College she worked for the Veteran’s Administration in Montgomery, Alabama and Buffalo, New York. She retired after more than thirty years of service as Supervisor of Veteran’s Benefits. Our Veterans held a special place in her heart and her work enabled her to honor their sacrifice and commitment as well as that of their families.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful nurses, CNAs, and all the staff at Kirkwood by the River Assisted Living and Rehabilitation for their care and compassion. The Compassus Hospice nurses and staff provided calm, skillful, and caring guidance for the final transition in our Mother’s Life.
The family will have a Graveside Service at Greenwood Serenity Memorial Gardens in Montgomery, Alabama on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at 1:00PM
