Mr. Edward Floyd Sims, Sr. of Trussville, AL, passed away on Monday, July 15, 2019. Mr. Sims was born in Birmingham on January 15, 1935. He was a wonderful and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who was very much loved and will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents Floyd and Christine Sims, and sisters, Martha Helen Bradley and Marian Loveless. Mr. Sims is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Barbara Sims; son Eddie Sims and wife Linda, daughter Vicki Butterworth and husband Danny; and a brother, Joe (Brenda) Sims.
Grandchildren include Erin Richardson and Ryan; Anna Burns and Joe; Emily Edwards and Wiley; Park Butterworth and Hillary, and Mary Beth Weber and Isaac. Great grandchildren are Thomas Richardson, JW and Gaines Edwards, and Emma and Addi Burns.
Mr. Sims was in sales with St. Regis Paper Company for many years. After St. Regis Paper Company was purchased by Stone Container Corporation, Mr. Sims continued in that same role for Stone Container until he retired in 2000.
Before Mr. Sims’ health declined, he enjoyed fishing and horse racing. But his favorite pastime, by far, was watching Alabama football!
A visitation will be held on Wednesday evening, July 17th, at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel from 6 until 8 PM followed by Funeral Services on Thursday beginning at 11 AM. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Trussville, AL. Pastor Tim Tidwell officiating.
