Townsend, Claude Arnold, age 68, of Birmingham, AL died January 17, 2012. He was born in Chattanooga, TN to Claude and Christine Townsend. He has a B.S. from the University of Chattanooga. He lived in Houston, TX and spent the last 28 years in the Birmingham area. He owned Chemical Solutions and most recently worked for Clayton Industries. He served in the National Guard and was an active outdoorsman. He loved skeet shooting, hunting and scuba diving. He was the Alabama Skeet Champion at one time, and Assistant Coach for the University of Alabama Skeet Team. He also coached local youth sports as a volunteer.
He is survived by his daughters, Kris Elizabeth Ames (Steve) and Kimberly Jordan Townsend (Greg Mowczo), both of Lafayette, IN; and brother, Michael Townsend (Kelly) of Waco, TX. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeannie Townsend.
The Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Johns-Ridout’s Funeral Parlors, with a reception following the service. Memorial donations may be made to American Heart Association at www.americanheart.org or National Multiple Sclerosis at www.nationalmssociety.org .
