Clara was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a loyal Christian and member of Sulphur Springs Baptist Church for most of her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James T. Newton; son, Rodney Newton; parents, Alma & Ed Roper; sisters, Florabelle Allen, Emma G. Bridge, Helen Sims, and Louise Moore; grandson, Dave Berry; daughter-in-law, Sharon Faye Newton; son-in-law, Marshall Berry.
Those left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Sharon Berry; her son, James T. Newton Jr.; brother, Ed Roper; sister, Margaret Sims; grandchildren, James T. Newton III (Jamie), Jeremy Newton(Kara), Christopher (Chris) Newton (Stephanie), Chanina Berry, Brittni Farris (Kevin), Kevin Newton (Cassie), and Logan Newton; daughter-in-law, Shela Newton; granddaughter-in-law, Milissa Berry, great-grandchildren, Cambryn Oniszko, Jasmine Berry, Keelan Oniszko, Tommy Newton, Haley Berry, Hudson Farris, Landon Farris, Brindley Newton, and Isabelle Newton and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A visitation for Clara will be held Thursday, April 21, 2022, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Sulphur Springs Baptist Church, 7500 Roper Rd, Trussville, AL 35173, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. Rev. Bobby Shipp, Officiating. The burial will be at Sulphur Springs Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Jamie Newton, Logan Newton, Chris Newton, Jeremy Newton, Tommy Newton, Kevin Farris, Kevin Newton, and Keelan Oniszko.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Sulphur Springs Baptist Church Building Fund.
