MURDOCK, CAROLYN MICKLER Died February 1, 2011 following an extended illness. Carolyn was born in Florala, AL but lived most of her life in the Birmingham area. she was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob E. Mickler and Inez W. Mickler; and her daughter, Marianne Murdock. Carolyn is survived by James K. Murdock, her husband of over 60 years; son, David K. Murdock of Hoover; brother, J. Ernest Mickler and wife, Mary Louise of Tuscaloosa; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. Carolyn was a 1948 graduate of Woodlawn High School. She was a member of the marching band and several school clubs. She was active in the children's music programs and Sunday school at Ruhama Baptist Church. She attended Alabama College for Women at Montevallo, Alabama, Howard College (Samford University), Jefferson State Community College, and UAB. Carolyn was retired from UA where she worked in the Capital Campaign Office and The Management Training Program. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Trussville. Carolyn was a beautiful, quiet, caring, elegant Christian lady who loved her family and The Lord. We loved her dearly. Visitation will be from 12 Noon to 1:30 PM Thursday, February 3, 2011 at Ridout's Trussville Chapel. Graveside services and burial will follow at 2:00 PM at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, Trussville.
