Betty T. Jahn
Age 81 passed away June 21. Betty was a 20 year employee as administrative assistant with St Martin’s in the Pines retirement apartments.
She was a member and Past President of the Charter Chapter of American Business Women’s Association and chaired the National Conference held in Birmingham in 1985. Betty was also President of the Women’s Jr. Chamber of commerce in 1986-1987 and 2006-2007. Projects during her tenure included providing seed money for a gift shop at Lakeshore Foundation and the Bravery Beads Project at UAB. Betty also served as President of the National Conference of Women in Chambers of Commerce and designated Safe House as her project during her reign as President. She was a member of Sophisticates and Lamplighters Dance Clubs and former member of the Salvation Army Auxiliary. Betty was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Walter L. Tucker and Elsie Hull Tucker, nephew Randy Smith and husbands, Ernest Mitchell and Hal Jahn. She was known for her humor and generous nature. She was always fun loving, and full of life. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter Brenda Tyson (Tommy), granddaughters, Daphne Tyson, and Abbie Crump (Greg) and grandson, Adam Tyson (Kymberlie), great grandchildren, Ella Grace Tyson, Cambrie Tyson, and Brennen Tyson; Bailey Crump and Allie Kate Crump. Her sister Gloria T. Smith and nephew, David Smith (Donna), Aunt Lucile Hull, cousin, Bill Hull (Syble).
The funeral will be at Trussiville Rideout’s Saturday, June 23rd with 10:00 visitation followed by funeral at 11:00. Katie Smith and Jennifer Riddle, chaplains at St. Martin’s will officiate.
