Betty Joyce Allan

Joyce is survived by her husband of 66 years, John Franklin Allan and her children, Kathy Ward, Jim Allan (Donna) and Suzanne Page (John). Lambchops (grandchildren): David Ward (Tina), Sarah Rew (Eric), James Allan, Anna Kate Carroll (Zach), Miller Allan (Shea) and Ross Page (Crandall). Great-grandchildren: Katie Grace and Caroline Rew, Hannah and Emily Ward and Georgia Carroll.

Joyce was born on July 15, 1936 in Lockhart, Alabama to Evelyn and Alvin McClellan. She grew up in Birmingham and graduated from Phillips High School in 1954. Living most of her life in Huntsville, Alabama, she was a faithful member of Weatherly Heights Baptist Church and co-owner of The Wedding Company for over 20 years. Together with her friend, Eva Mae Nunnally, they helped countless brides plan the perfect wedding.

Upon returning to Birmingham in 2006, she became a member of Shades Crest Baptist Church. She loved living closer to her children, being “Nana” to her grandchildren and Sunday lunches with her Taco Casa family.

A service will be held Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 11:00 at Johns-Ridout’s Mortuary-Elmwood Chapel, with burial to follow at Elmwood Cemetery. There will not be a public visitation.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations in her memory to Shades Crest Baptist Church, Weatherly Heights Baptist Church, or a charity of your choice.
