Barbara E Curtis

Barbara E. Curtis, age 84 of Birmingham went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, May 11, 2018. She was a long time member of Chapel in the Pines Presbyterian Church and later Briarwood Presbyterian Church. She was born and raised in Birmingham, was a graduate of the University of Alabama class of 1955, President of AXO Sorority and taught Home Economics for several years. She served others through Community Bible Study and the Assistance League of Birmingham. Barbara was an avid bridge player and friend to many. Barbara was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her husband, Joe F. Curtis, Sr. preceded her in death. Survivors include her daughter, Suzy Curtis Sanders (Bill); son, Joe F. Curtis, Jr. (Laura); grandchildren: Charlotte and Elizabeth Sanders; Kyndal Curtis Saunders (Andrew), Kelsey Curtis and Joseph Curtis; great grandchild, Luke Saunders. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 14, 2018 at Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. You may send flowers or make memorial contribution to Alzheimer’s of Central Alabama. The family will receive friends Monday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
