Allison Leighann Rhodes, 20, of Springville, Alabama, died on February 6, 2016 at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. She was born June 23, 1995 to her parents, Curtis and Susan Rhodes. She was a 2013 graduate of Springville High School and was attending Jefferson State Community College.
Allison was diagnosed with a rare kidney disease in 2009. She received a kidney from her Aunt Margaret Watts in a transplant in 2013. She fought a hard battle for life in these past years with the help of family, friends, and the doctors and staff of Children’s Hospital and UAB Hospital.
She is survived by her parents Curtis and Susan Rhodes; sisters Megan Rhodes and Ashley Smith (Jacob); niece Linzie Smith; and a nephew Hayden Smith. She is also survived by the following aunts and uncles; Paul Rhoades, Margaret Watts (Wayne), Terry Rhoades, , Kyle Redus, Michael Layfield, Daniel Layfield (Tammy), Robin Layfield, and Ginger Ryant (Charles) as well as a host of other family members and friends. She also is survived by her boyfriend, Andrew Gray, whom she adored.
Visitation will be Friday February 12, 2016 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel. The funeral service will be Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel with the interment to follow at Red Hill Church Cemetery.
