Thomas (Tom) D. Robinson, 77, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2024 at E.W. & Lucille Cates House, Hospice of Marion County in Ocala, Fl. Tom was born in Welch, West Virginia on October 9, 1946 to the late Elbert B. and Rossie (Bradley) Robinson. The family relocated to Lorain, Ohio in 1955.
Tom was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army serving from January 1966 – January 1968 after completing basic training he was assigned to the 3rd U.S Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) in Arlington, VA. Following his infantry service, he was employed by IBM Corp. in Washington D.C. from March 1968 until his retirement in 1998. During his employment Tom and his family relocated numerous times: Austin, Texas (Round Rock) in 1977, followed by a move to Tacoma, WA. (Puyallup) in 1980, and finally settling in Boca Raton, FL. (Wellington) until retirement. Tom and his wife then moved to Citrus Springs, Florida in 2022.
He became a member of M.W. Grand Lodge A.F & A.M of Virginia, Acacia Lodge No.16 in Clifton, VA. in 1977. Tom was also a member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, valley of Alexandria in VA. He is a life member of the Old Guard Association (TOGA) and a life member of the NRA. He had recently joined the American Legion in Beverly Hills, FL.
Tom is Survived by his wife Carol (nee Teets) of 58 years; one son, Michael Robinson of Royal Palm Beach, FL.; 4 grandchildren: Logan Robinson of Royal Palm Beach; Dallas Robinson of Nashville, TN; Sydnie Ghettie of Tampa, FL; and Dylan Ghettie of Wellington, FL. Also surviving Tom is son in law Shannon Ghettie of Wellington; Nephews David Robinson of Blackhawk, CO. and Greg Robinson (Rachel) of Castle Pines, CO. as well as numerous cousins and special family friends.
Tom was preceded in death by his beloved daughter Dawn (nee Robinson) Ghettie, His parents E.B. and Rossie (Bradley) Robinson and brother Donald Robinson.
Our family would like to thank the staff at Cates House for the kindness and attentive care that they provided Tom.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Fero Funeral Home with Crematory and Memorial Gardens in Beverly Hills, FL.
A memorial service will be held at the South Florida National Cemetery at a later date.
