Sally Lou Smith passed away on August 13, 2020 in St. Augustine, Florida. She was born on October 18, 1933 in Altoona, Pennsylvania to Sara and Emerick Ammerman. She graduated from Indiana State Teachers College in Indiana, Pennsylvania and began her teaching career in Wilmerding, Pennsylvania. After teaching for several years in Connecticut, she relocated to Miami, Florida in 1958 and continued teaching at Miami Norland High School. She married Harry Lee Smith in 1964 and they moved to Geneva On The Lake Ohio, where their children Amy, Chad and Marty were born. The family moved to Crystal River Florida in 1974 . She accepted a position teaching English at Crystal River High School in 1975 and taught there until she retired in 1996. In retirement, she moved to the Hammock in Flagler County where she enjoyed the beach, doing cross stitch needlework , watching Premier League Soccer and spending time with friends and family . She was predeceased by her husband Harry in 1992 and her brother Charles Ammerman in 2000. She is survived by her children Amy , Chad and Martin Smith; her grandchildren Jared Mason and Rell Anastasia Smith; her sister in law Janice Smith; her sister in law Lois Ammerman; her nephew Matthew (Amy) Ammerman and nieces Cari ( David) Cummings and Loren (Mike) Dixon.
At her request, no service will be held. She will be laid to rest at Fero Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Lecanto, Florida
