Mary Sophie (Bachurz) Kravac, 97 of Hernando, Florida, widow of George John Kravac, passed away into eternal peace on Tuesday, June 5, 2012. Mary was born on West Street in Enfield, CT and raised on Third Street in Suffield, CT. As a young adult, she moved to Rockaway Beach, NY to work as a nanny; where she met her future husband, George Kravac. They later returned to CT, where Mary worked for 33 years at Pratt & Whitney, a division of UTC in East Hartford, CT. Mary, her husband and son lived in E. Hartford and W. Hartford, CT, where she was a member of St. Timothy's Catholic Church. Many years later, Mary moved to Florida to join her family. In Florida, Mary enjoyed gardening, cooking, spending time with her family and friends and doting on her cat, Gina. Mary was a communicant of St. Scholastica Catholic Church and had the distinction of being the oldest member. She was also, a member of the Women's Club. She frequently attended Senior Gatherings. Mary was known for her generosity to many worthy charities.
She is survived by a son, George Edward Kravac and his wife Marion (Mary) of Hernando, Florida; granddaughter, Sheree Denny and her husband, Matthew of Cary, NC and three great grandsons, Kyle, Kurtis and Kraig Denny. Her sisters, Sophie Bachurz and Stacia Kozlowski are deseased as well as her brothers, Edward Bachurz and Joseph Bachurz, Sr. She also, leaves many nieces and nephews. Mary will be sadly missed by her loving family and friends.
Visitation, Friday, June 8, 2012 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Fero Funeral Home, Beverly Hills, Florida. Funeral Mass will be celebrated, on Saturday, June 9, 2012 at 9:00 A.M. at St. Scholastica Catholic Church. Interment will be in St. Adalbert's Cemetery at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, June 15, 2012.
