Charles H. Drake, 93 of Beverly Hills, Florida passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2013 in the loving care of his family and Hospice of Citrus County. Charles was born on Friday, August 1, 1919 in Fall River, Massachusetts to William and Bertha (Walmsby) Drake. He was retired from the Veteran's Administration, as a veteran's agent in Providence, Rhode Island and also, at the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth. Charles was a veteran of the United States Army, during WWII. He was a musician and an excellent trumpet player. Charles learned to play the trumpet, as a young man with the Salvation Army and entertained with the National Guard band and with bands in Massachusetts and Florida. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Citrus Springs, Florida, was an avid reader, stamp collector and enjoyed traveling.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Eileen Elizabeth Drake on March 11, 2010.
Survivors include his sons, John Drake and wife Laura of Amherst, Massachusetts and Paul Drake and wife Deborah of Portsmouth, Rhode Island; daughters, Patricia Hampson of Ellington, Connecticut and Frances Sanschagrin and husband Joseph Beaulieu of Pine Ridge, Florida; grandchildren, Megan Sears and husband Keegan of Warren, Massachusetts, Jennifer and Amy Drake, both of Portsmouth, Rhode Island, Tracey McDonald and husband John of Manchester, Connecticut, Brian Hampson of Manchester, Connecticut, Paul Sanschagrin and wife Suzanne of Fanwood, New Jersey, Allan Sanschagrin of Mobile, Alabama and Brendan Drake of New York, New York and great grandchildren, Jessica DeVaux of Manchester, Connecticut, Kyle Sanschagrin of Fanwood, New Jersey and Ryder Sears of Warren, Massachusetts.
Inurnment will be private and take place at Fero Memorial Gardens.
