Jim was born April 2, 1939 in Oklahoma City to Thomas and Ella (Bleer) Dobson. He graduated from Capitol Hill High School, where he played numerous sports and received the nickname, “The Dobber”. After graduating, he was recruited to Oklahoma State University on a football scholarship, but also played basketball and baseball, which was his love. Jim was honored as the MVP of OSU’s 1959 National Championship baseball team. He graduated from OSU with a Business degree and went on to serve his country in the National Guard while continuing to play baseball.
Jim loved Jesus and loved telling anyone who would listen about Him. Jim was always kind and encouraging to everyone he met. He loved all his family greatly, especially his girls Ange & Lis, and “G-Pop” never missed an opportunity to cheer on Livy, Davis and Blaker in everything they did! He always said “I just love being here with you guys and I’m so proud of you.”
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas and his beloved mother, Ella.
Jim is survived by his daughters, Lisa Dobson of OKC and Angela and her husband Byron Seefeldt of Edmond, as well as their mother, Sandy Dobson of OKC; grandchildren, Olivia, Davis, and Blake Seefeldt; brother, Charles and his wife Jean Dobson of OKC; sister, Betty and her husband Jim Lankford of Blanchard; nephews and niece, Ron Dobson of Yukon, Greg Dobson of OKC, Mike Lankford of Blanchard, Justin Lankford of Blanchard, and Michelle Huck of Edmond.
