Billy Ray Boykin, age 75, passed away Friday, November 8, 2024 in Oklahoma City. He was born June 1, 1949 in Sims, North Carolina to Rothen and Daisy (Driver) Boykin. He graduated from Rock Ridge High School and went on to join the United States Air Force where he served for 22 years before retiring in 1988. Billy then went to work at the FAA and then at Tinker Air Force Base as a civilian contracting specialist, retiring after 18 years. He married Mary Huffman on July 27, 1971 and enjoyed 53 years of love and laughter. Billy loved woodworking, and pens were his specialty. He also enjoyed fishing and watching old westerns on TV. Above all, he loved the Lord and enjoyed being at church and being involved. He was also a huge supporter of missionaries and their work, often making the missionary boards hung in the church. Billy was stubborn but loved with his whole heart. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death his father, Rothen Boykin and his brother, Rothen Boykin, Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Boykin; daughters and son-in-law, Elizabeth Darlene and Scottie Rackley, and Jennifer Lynn Boykin; brother and sister-in-law, Teddy Joe and Linda Boykin; sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and JV Haynes; 3 nieces and 1 nephew; as well as other family members and friends.
Visitation will begin at 8:30 am Monday, November 18, 2024 with services at 10am at Moore Baptist Church, 2501 S. Broadway, Moore. Interment will be at 2pm at Ft. Sill National Cemetery.
