Betty Willoughby

Elizabeth Ann (Betty) Willoughby, 91, longtime resident of Oklahoma City, entered God’s kingdom on August 17, 2024. She was born the oldest child on September 28, 1932, to Ludie Beth and Earl Vick, in Kingston, Oklahoma.

Betty enjoyed traveling, sewing, and listening to gospel music in her retired years with her devoted husband, Charles. Traveling often included visiting the families of her daughters and son and the many grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as the annual summer journey to Colorado and winter journey to south Texas for the Gospel Sing. She also traveled nearly every year to the OSU football Bowl games and was often called Ma Aggie as was her sweet husband, Pa Aggie.

As for sewing, she really loved her Pray and Sew group at Spring Creek Baptist Church in Oklahoma City and was so proud of their mission of sharing the labors of their hands with the Children’s Hospital and Veteran’s Center. She also enjoyed her quilting as she made many quilts, one for each of her children and grandchildren – often personalizing their specific quilts. She would also send birthday cards for each of her grandchildren and many great grandchildren. She was truly the matriarch of her family.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Charles, daughters Sharon Kay Lawson and Patricia Ann Rose, brother Earl Wayne Vick, her parents, and several cousins, aunts and uncles. She is survived by daughters Connie Keathley and Kathy Jackson, both of Indiana and their families, and son Chuck Willoughby and his family from Stillwater, Oklahoma, and the children and families of Sharon Kay, Patricia Ann and Earl Wayne as well as many cousins.

Betty was a truly energetic woman with a giving nature who will be greatly missed.

A memorial ceremony will be held at Bill Merritt Funeral Home in Bethany, Oklahoma at 10:00 on Saturday, August 31, 2024, as well as a memorial in Indiana with her family that reside there, at 1:00 pm on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Harmony Baptist of Avon, Indiana. She will be interred at Rose Hill Burial Park in Oklahoma City, with her sweet husband Charles Ebin Willoughby.
