Arthur Timothy Swindle, 77, of Bentonville, Arkansas, died Monday, June 17, 2024.
Tim was born October 3, 1946 in Hot Springs, Arkansas to the late Dale and Minnie Swindle.
He is survived by his wife, Carole; Daughter Lindy Kern and husband Adam; son Jeff Swindle and wife Monique; grandsons Alex, Easton and Landon Kern; granddaughter Myla Swindle; brother Dale Swindle, Jr and wife Mary Anne, all of Northwest Arkansas. He is also survived by sister-in-law Brenda Mann from Ozark, Arkansas.
Tim grew up in Mount Ida, Arkansas and then attended Arkansas Tech, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in math.
He married his wife, Carole Vardaman, in 1968 and they moved to Mena, Arkansas, where Tim taught 8th grade math. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1970-1976, and he and Carole moved to Clarksville, Arkansas, where he served as a State Farm Insurance Agent for 29 years.
Tim had many hobbies and interests, running in 5k and 10k races, playing golf, announcing football games for Clarksville High School and radio announcing for the University of the Ozarks Men’s Basketball. He was very community minded and was active in the Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis and other civic organizations. Tim was not only known for his service to the community of Clarksville, but also for his love and devotion to Christ. He became a deacon at 28 and was later ordained as an elder at First Baptist Church Clarksville. Tim was a strong spiritual mentor to people of all ages, and taught Sunday School Youth and Young Married Couples for many years.
Once retired, Tim and Carole moved to Bentonville, Arkansas, to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Some of his proudest moments were when his children and grandchildren accepted Christ.
Tim especially loved spending time with his family and friends. He was thankful when his brother and family moved to Northwest Arkansas. They enjoyed going to Razorback Baseball games and playing golf.
Tim was such a fun-loving, relatable person who was generous and whose quick wit and abundant energy drew people to him. Everyone knew Tim as the short guy who talked fast.
He and Carole were blessed to celebrate 55 years together. They enjoyed spending time with their many close friends, whether it was going to church, eating out, playing cards, travelling, praying together or just enjoying being together. Tim and Carole especially cherished family time with their children and grandchildren.
Tim was a man of faith and integrity. He lived a full and wonderful life and loved the Lord, his family, his church and his friends. He was a blessing to everyone he knew and he will be missed dearly, but know he is with Christ.
Visitation will be 1:00 pm Thursday, June 20, 2024 at Cross Church Pinnacle Hills, 2448 Pinnacle Hills Parkway, Rogers, AR with memorial service beginning at 2:00 pm. Honorary Pallbearers are Bob and Lana McCaslin, Joe and Charlotte Haynie, Joe and Judy Johnston, Howard and Elaine Kerr, Greg and Tammy Barnes, and Joe Thompson.
