Mr. Franklin graduated from Joplin Senior High in 1962 and the University of Missouri at Columbia in 1967.
Don and Teena lived in Omaha, Nebraska for thirty years before settling in Bentonville, Arkansas. In
Omaha, Mr. Franklin owned the firm Gurney and Associates.
Mr. Franklin was a member of AWWA (American Water Works Association), WEF (Water Environment
Federation), NFPA (National Fire Protection Association), Society of American Military Engineers, and the
Beaver Lake Sail Club.
Mr. Franklin was the recipient of the George Warren Fuller Award. The annual award is the highest honor given by the AWWA for outstanding service to the water industry. He enjoyed cooking and entertaining, improving his property on Beaver Lake, sailing, and river boating.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Teena McCory Franklin. He is also survived by his sister, Sara
Belden Ditto of Joplin, Missouri and nieces and nephews, Scott Belden and Russell Belden of Joplin,
Missouri; Craig Calvin and Tara Calvin Peterson of Mammoth Lakes, California; Cyrise Calvin Sanders of
San Diego, California; David Fritchman and Lance Fritchman of Little Rock, Arkansas; Christina McClard
Pearson of Glenwood Springs, Colorado, and Katherine McClard of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
A memorial service will be announced later.
